Outdoor Social Club: Ten Mile Birding Outing
Outdoor Social Club: Ten Mile Birding Outing
Join MLT Land Protection Coordinator Matt Franks for an intro to the birds of the Ten Mile Estuary!
Matt will guide us on a leisurely walk on the Old Smith Ranch trail, helping participants to identify birds and learn about their habits along the way. We can expect to see some migrating songbirds this time of year who are either passing through on their way north or looking for nesting sites. Along the river we will look for year-round resident ducks, geese, and herons. Under the Ten Mile bridge, we should also see a flurry of swallows building nests, and hopefully we can catch sight of a Bald Eagle or an exciting rarity!
We will meet at the parking lot for the Old Smith Ranch Trailhead at 9am.
Bring water and a snack, comfortable shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing. You can also bring binoculars if you have them, and if not we have extra pairs to loan.
