Welcome Back, Volunteers!

The Mendocino Land Trust is excited to announce that our volunteer days will resume in March! 

These important opportunities to connect with the land and give back went on hiatus in November due to rising numbers of COVID cases and limited ICU capacity. Protecting your health and the health of the community remain top priority. But if you are going out and about and are eager to get back to work, we would be grateful to have your help. Masks are required during the volunteer work day. Volunteers are reminded to socially distance from persons not in their households while working.

Here are March volunteer opportunities!

Thursday, March 11

Navarro Point Preserve 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Where: Navarro Point Google map

What to bring / wear: Dress to get dirty. Bring gloves and water. Tools will be provided.

Navarro Point Preserve is owned and managed by Mendocino Land Trust. We rely on volunteer stewardship workdays to maintain our network of public access trails and beaches. Volunteers spend the day pulling invasive plant species, picking up garbage, maintaining the trail, and taking in the beautiful scenery. Stewardship workdays are scheduled for the 2nd Thursday of each month and are open to all ages and experience levels.

MARCH MISSION: Seek and destroy invasive bull thistle rosettes. Now is the easiest time to remove them!

Saturday, March 13 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Hare Creek Beach Stewards

Where: Hare Creek Beach Park at the Mendocino College-Coast Center Google map

What to bring / wear: Dress to get dirty. Bring gloves and water AND YOUR OWN MASK. Tools will be provided.

MARCH MISSION: Lots of ivy to pull! Don’t worry, it’s not poison ivy, just invasive. If conditions allow we may also give a fond farewell to a burn pile. Bring your own marshmallows!

Ten Mile Stewards

Where: Old Smith Ranch Trail along the Ten Mile River

What to bring / wear: Dress to get dirty. Bring gloves and water AND YOUR OWN MASK. Tools will be provided.

Our Ten Mile property requires regular attention to control invasive plants, maintain the picnic area and remove woody debris created during the construction of the trail. We invite everyone and anyone to help us maintain this beautiful public access trail. Stewardship workdays are generally scheduled for the third Saturday of each month and are open to all ages and experience levels.

MARCH MISSION: Pruning is the name of the game! Plus lots of invasive pulling to be done in the meadow and on the trail.
