Agricultural Land Conservation Lunch & Learn
Willits Environmental Center, 630 S Main St, Willits, CA 95490, USA
Are you interested in protecting your agricultural land? MLT, in collaboration with the School of Adaptive Agriculture and the Mendocino Producers Guild, is holding an educational, 2-hour lunch & learn workshop on Saturday, May 31st, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Willits Environmental Center to provide landowners with information about how to protect family lands, benefit from a conservation easement (CE), and help conserve more agricultural and working lands in Mendocino County. We will also hold another workshop in Ukiah in July. Please click here to RSVP if you are interested in attending. Registration is free of charge.
MLT has conserved thousands of acres of working lands in Mendocino County by working with landowners who donate or sell conservation easements (CEs) on their properties while continuing to own, work, and sell their land or pass it to their heirs. In 2023, MLT was awarded a grant from the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation (SALC) Program. We are currently using these funds to purchase a CE on a cattle ranch near Willits, and we are working on other SALC-funded conservation projects in inland Mendocino County. Some of our other completed agricultural conservation projects include CEs on the late Paul Dolan’s Dark Horse Ranch in Ukiah and on the historic Ridgewood Ranch in Willits, home of the legendary racehorse Seabiscuit.
If you have interest in protecting your working land, or if you have concerns about doing so, consider attending this workshop! Or if you would like MLT to reach out to you, please contact Matt Franks, MLT’s Land Protection Coordinator, at matt@mendocinolandtrust.org.
